According to the statistics of the Color Masterbatch Special Committee, there are approximately 4500 colored masterbatch enterprises in China. The Color Masterbatch Special Committee has conducted statistics on more than 230 representative enterprises, and 14 manufacturers have an annual output of over 10000 tons, with a total output of over 270000 tons, accounting for nearly 50% of the total output; There are 43 color masterbatch factories with a production capacity of 3000-8000 tons, with a total production capacity of 200000 tons, accounting for about 30% of the total production; There are 66 manufacturers with a production capacity of 1000-2800 tons, with a total production capacity of 100000 tons, accounting for 13%; There are 106 manufacturers with a production capacity of less than 1000 tons, with a production capacity of only 40000 tons, accounting for less than 7% of the total production. Before 2006, enterprises with a production capacity of over a thousand tons were defined as large enterprises, but now a group of enterprises with a production capacity of 10000 tons have emerged, "Qiao Hui said.
Qiao Hui also pointed out that there is still a certain gap between domestic color masterbatches and foreign products, mainly manifested in a single variety, relatively weak technical strength in developing new products, and most products can only compete disorderly at low levels, making them relatively passive in responding to international environmental regulations.
During the 12th Five Year Plan period, the color masterbatch industry needs to enhance its competitiveness in technical aspects and strengthen communication with upstream raw material industries to jointly respond to international environmental protection directives and ecological standards, in order to overcome the situation of being large but not strong and adapt to future market needs Qiao Hui said.
It is understood that in recent years, global multinational companies that produce color masterbatches have established factories in Shanghai, Guangdong, and other places in the form of sole proprietorship or joint venture, as they are optimistic about the potential market for color masterbatch products in the Chinese market. Moreover, foreign-funded enterprises, despite their low proportion of production, still control the discourse power in the Chinese market due to their dominance in the high-end market.
